Reject the MUNI budget
Great editorial in the Sentinel tonight from Luke Thomas and Pat Murphy. Let's hope the Board of Supervisors takes note.
Mostly, Leftinsf thinks the N Judah sucks in the morning. It is too crowded from Carl and Cole to Van Ness. And when MUNI sucks people stop taking it.
Leftinsf also thinks they should sell tokens again. They stopped selling tokens because MUNI is going to raise the fares and people started hoarding.
An Empty N Judah: Never before seen sign sight in morning rush hour...
We're convinced Transit First policy needs serious embrace, for future commerce and community life to flourish.
Other cities have resisted Transit First implementation, only to discover it worked better than dreamed
In Europe, cities have excellent mass transit systems utilizing smaller, more frequent, eco-friendly buses for outlying areas not serviced by rail.
Bus-to-rail connections are fast, efficient and reliable.

Yes. yes. yes. Transit First will work, if we actually put transit first. I have no problem whatsoever with raising parking fines and fees even higher. So often I see people doing the parking math - you know, "If I leave my car here, it may get ticketed - but only one out of ever 10 days - and that's still cheaper than paying for private parking?" Raise the fines. Raise the fees. Get some cars off the street - which incidentally will make transit more efficient since there will be fewer double parked cars slowing that train or bus down - and get MUNI back in line.
And god yes, the N-Judah is horrible in the morning.
