Will the next D4 Supervisor be a woman?
Rumor has it that Ed Jew will be served today and that Newsom will name a D4 Supervisor. Alix Rosenthal, Pres. of NWPC, and Saskia Traill, Pres. of SFWPC, wrote a great letter to Newsom pushing him to ensure that his next appointment would be a woman. It was published in on the SF Bay Guardian blog. Read it by clicking here. Here is one paragraph that sums up their sentiments:
One of every three citywide elected offices in San Francisco is held by a woman. In addition, only two members of the Board of Supervisors are female. During your administration, the number of women who serve in elected office has been reduced, after you replaced two women, Assessor Mabel Teng and Treasurer Susan Leal, with men.

Carmen Chu, the new interim supervisor for D4, registered to vote in SF in 2006 and has voted exactly once since.
Q: did she vote for Ed Jew?

Clarification, voted exactly once ever in SF. That’s the kind of organic, deel connection to community that we need in an office holder.
