The SF Chronicle reports that Tatiana, a Siberian tiger, killed one visitor and injured two yesterday (Christmas Day).

All three victims were reported to be young men in their 20’s. Our prayers and thoughts go out to their families.

Tatiana was the tiger that severely injured a zookeeper in December 2006. The report is that she had escaped her grotto, killed the one man near her grotto and injured the other two in a zoo cafe.

Police officers killed Tatiana while she was on top of one of the injured victims.

It also must be a tough time for the SF Zoo personnel to have to deal with one of their worst nightmares on Christmas Day. Our thoughts go out to them during this difficult time.

SF Zoo along with California Academy of Arts is open 365 days per year.
