San Francisco was given an honorable mention by Bicycling Magazine for being one of the best medium-sized cities in the US to bike in.
One of the most important factors — and one in which San Francisco fared well — was whether a city had public-sponsored programs and projects for cyclists. If San FRancisco is one of the best, I am glad I don’t live somewhere that’s one of the worst.SF Bicycle Coalition president Leah Shahum noted that The City was listed among the top three in a 2001 ranking by Bicycling.
“It shows that the things that make San Francisco special are being done all over the country … and for San Francisco to continue to be a leader, we need to be more bold and forward thinking,” Shahum said, while praising city leaders for making The City better for cyclists.
