SF Greens endorsed dancer, founder of Dance Mission and mother of a SOTA student, Krissy Keefer for Congress over two months ago.

Several weeks ago, a group of Democrats and Greens, including Rob Arnow, Andy Blue and Tony Brasunas tried to recruit Matt Gonzalez to run as a Green against Pelosi.

On the surface, it would look like a group of young men who were not really aware that the deadline to getting your name on the primary ballot had passed (March 11) and that the SF Greens had endorsed Krissy months before. And since only one of those individuals (Arnow) is active in the Green Party, that may be the answer to the story.

But Gonzalez not only knew that the SF Greens had endorsed Krissy-but he had actually endorsed Krissy himself. After several weeks of speculation, Gonzalez finally spoke and said that he was not interested in running for Congress-and did note on a radio program on Monday that he had endorsed Keefer for Congress.

It is difficult for women to run for office. And I’ll be honest with my readers as I was with Krissy Keefer-I am not really interested working on the race for Congress since the race is already all but won by Pelosi-especially since she is the first woman to the House Minority Leader.

But Krissy is running. And those who support her shouldn’t send mixed signals on that support.

I am not a fan of Pelosi. Her vote for the Patriot Act is only one vote on many that I disagree with-and her lack of support for marriage equality is also deeply troubling to me. But I have a limit on my time and resources. And trying to change a 600 member Congress is not where I want to invest those limited time and efforts.

But on this occasion, I want to make clear to everyone that the SF Greens have endorsed Krissy Keefer for Congress and many in our party are already working hard to help her to win.

And those whom we have worked for in the past, should remember that commitment and honor it.
