A look at the people who may make a difference
Yesterday I wrote about how the Republicans created a vision, an infrastruture, and a message machine over the last three decades and how Rob Stein is touring the country with a powerpoint presentation chronicling this history. For those who are interested in reading more about Rob Stein and the impact he is having on the direction of progressive politics in America, I found a NYT’s article from last summer that discusses the work he is doing and the work of the Phoenix group. It is a long article, but definitely worth reading.
The same author, Matt Bei, wrote an article on Andy Stern, the leader of the fastest growing union in the country, SEIU and the proposal Andy has made to restructure Labor.
The proposal that Andy has made and counterproposals can be found at www.unitetowin.org
For those who care about the state of the left in this country, following this debate is worthwhile. When labor does well, other social and economic justice movements also do well.
Update (by Sasha):
The Magazine article from last week is behind the Times's subscription wall, but you can read it at The Contrarian website.
You can also read Stern's thoughts about the article at the Unite to Win blog.
