Watch out fundies...There is a new threat to the Republican Agenda
Meet the folks that are a threat to the Republican Agenda:

SpongeBob and Fred and Barney from the Flintstones are taking on the conservative Republican agenda by promoting a homosexual lifestyle. In case you were wondering, Fred and Barney both wear a dress, spend way too much time together and are said to be having a “gay old time.”
Who fights fundamentalists with more ferocity? Gavin, Shannon, and Molly!

On Saturday, Mayor Gavin Newsom had a one year anniversary party for the couples who got married. 3,000 people showed up for the party. Observers noted that the Mayor gave one of the best speeches of his life A couple of quotes that sent shivers down the community spine:
"Don't give up the fight. Don't feel discouraged. Don't listen to the president of the United States," Newsom said to thunderous cheers before leading the crowd in a chant of "Shame on you, George Bush."
“We are more resolved. We are more committed and this door is open and nothing the president of the United States will ever do will shut this door. Nothing the president will do will shut this door!!! Nothing elected officials will do will shut this door!” Newsom said.
Newsom has been fighting the fundamentalists with ferocity but there are a few heroes besides the Mayor, SpongeBob, and Fred and Barney that also deserve mention this week: Transgender hero and senior staff attorney for the National Center for Lesbian Rights Shannon Minter and the unsinkable Molly McKay, the Associate Executive Director of Equality California.

Shannon Minter
Last December, Shannon Minter delivered a spellbinding oral argument on behalf of 12 same sex couples who were married last winter at City Hall. In a quiet but mesmerizing voice, he made brilliant arguments on behalf of marriage non-discrimination. On a day to day basis, Shannon fights for LGBT persons and families in all areas of the law.

Molly McKay
Unsinkable is an understatement when it comes to Molly McKay. She and her partner Devina have been building a movement in San Francisco, across the state, and across the country to stop discrimination against same sex couples who want to marry. She is everywhere and would probably stand in front of a tank for Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin so that they could marry.

Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, the very first marriage in City Hall
In the courtroom, in the streets, and in City Hall watch out fundies, Molly McKay, Shannon Minter, and Mayor Gavin Newsom will out do SpongeBob, Fred and Barney, Bert and Ernie, and Tinky-Winky every day of the week.
