Bloggers are safe
Well, all the ruckus on the internets about the brutal hand of San Francisco crushing the Blogging Revolution can now end. Chris Daly says:
Speaking of which, the news was split on the two most important issues dealt with today: the Supes defeated the multimillion dollar giveaway to real estate speculators, but upheld Gavin's quarter-million dollar giveaway to San Francisco Cycling, LLC.
I duplicated Sophie's item and amended it to specifically exempt blogs and web content and referred the item back to Ethics. We then passed the original item with the understanding that the amended item will be back in about 3 weeks to trump it.What is interesting about this whole thing is that it was clear from the debate that the Supes did get a substantial--or at least noticable--quantity of mail on the question. At least when they feel threatened, the blogosphere seems to be able to mobilize. Hopefully we'll see similar movement on issues of more substance.
