Update on the Castro from Calvin Gipson

Below is an update Calvin Gipson sent out this afternoon.

SF HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION VICTORY FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR!

The City of San Francisco’s Human Rights Commission finds that SF Badlands and owner Les Natali violated Article 33 of the San Francisco Police Code by discriminating in employment and public accommodations on the basis of race. The Commission finds and concludes that Les Natali identified African Americans to his employees as “non-Badlands customers” and that he discriminated against African American customers when they were required to provide multiple forms of identification, discouraged from entering, denied entry for carrying bags, and removed from the bar based on false charges of violating bar policy in violation of San Francisco Police Code 33.
