Whose Castro? Our Castro
Longtime community activist Calvin Gipson sent out an action alert today about the release of the long awaited report from the Human Rights Commission about a discrimination complaint filed against Les Natali, the owner of Badlands and Detour.
Calvin is part of a group called And Castro for All that filed the complaint. They are calling on the community to support them and come to a rally tomorrow Tuesday, April 26 at 6PM at Harvey Milk Plaza. Their complaint is incredibly well documented and I would be shocked if the HRC didn't come down in their favor. Racial and gender discrimination in the Castro isn't a big secret within the community. The common practice is for bars to ask people of color and women for a second id when they show up at the bar. Everybody knows about it. But no one has ever done anything about it.
Come and show your support to some very brave people who had the guts to challenge discrimination in our community.

notice that they will issue its much anticipated finding in the race and
gender discrimination case against Castro bar owner Les Natali tomorrow,
Tuesday, April 26.
We need community support!
