Truth is eviller than fiction...

...and better acted, too. (Don't read further if you wish to remain in complete ignorance about the new Star Wars movie).

I saw the Revenge of the Sith yesterday. I won't go into here whether it was a good movie (it wasn't) or who the most lifelike character was (the muppet).

What I did think was interesting was that the most super-evil badguy George Lucas could come up with was essentially Dick Cheney without the bum heart. Use an attack as an excuse to grab power? Check. When things aren't all going your way, change the rules? Check. Turn on your former allies? Check and check.

It is amusing that Lucas is being criticized on the basis that a movie he wrote years ago is supposed to be a comment on the current political system.

The real criticism, I think, should be for the Republicans who seem to be imitating movie villains. When your leader's apprearances on the evening news are indistinguishable from the Master of the Dark Side's speeches before "a special session of congress", it might be time to reevaluate your actions.
