The pit bull thing
You've probably read about the pit bulls attacking a kid. There are even some folks in favor of a citywide ban on pit bulls. Gavin, however, has backed off from that, presumably because he remembered the political power of the Dog People.
At least one pit bull owner, however, feels that you shouldn't blame all pit bulls for the actions of a few, and is staging a protest at noon tomorrow at City Hall. "Max is a good boy," said Paul de Jong, "he shouldn't be persecuted for what some other dogs did."
Full disclosure: Paul is surfing our couch right now, and Max is a good dog, if a little smelly.

I do hope people pay attention to the class dimensions of labeling one particular kind of mutt as dangerous while exempting purebreds that have equally fearsome reputations.

I would like to say I love that board that your pit is wearing. I have a 2 year old male pit bull. His name is Cerebus, he is all tan with a small white mark on his chest. I also have a 3 month old daughter that he just loves. He is very gental with her in every way. He gives her kisses non stop not to forget us as well. He sleeps with my husband and I Right in the middel of the bed. He is around 100lbs and still to this day he thinks he is a lap dog with out a care in the world. I total understand what the board means. I have met alot of people that tell me that "pit Bulls" are mean, they big children, turn on there owners and not to be trusted. I just laught at them on how ignorant they are! Those people that do pit bull fighting can go to hell. It's quit sad that you see the news papers and things on the news about how a pit bull attacked some one. You never hear about any other kinds of dogs on the news do you? My husband and I moved back to out home town a year ago and we had to live with my parents because we were unable to find a place that would let us have him. After months of looking we found aplace in a great area with lots os children and they all love him. the owners met cerebus and feel inlove with him. I'm glad there are some people out there that don't listen to all the nonsense they hear these days. As I write this i am laying in my bed with my 3 month old daughter and my loveable beautiful pit bull cerebus who loves to ear cheese crackers with me. I have alway said He has always been a lover not a fighter. I just wanted to thank you for putting the picture out there for all to see.
